April 23, May 21, June 11 | 11am–5pm | Free
Visit the Seaport Museum for free campus-wide family fun in partnership with PJ Library! One day a month, April through June General Admission ticketing fees will be waived for a full day of all-ages activities at the Museum.
Inspired by a different PJ Library book each month, this series will highlight unique aspects of immigration. Throughout the day, families are invited to tour the iconic lightship Ambrose, which served for a quarter century as the beacon of hope for immigrants reaching New York. Long before sighting the Statue of Liberty, inbound ships would carry immigrants past Ambrose on their way to new lives in America.
The day of activities also offers you the opportunity to stop in for crafts inspired by the books. Come aboard the 1885 tall ship Wavertree to discover sailors’ living quarters and you’ll even have the chance to raise the sail! At Pier 16 you can enjoy an interactive storytime and, when you’re looking for a quiet moment between activities, relax at PJ Library’s cozy Book Nook, with stories for kids from newborn to 12 years old. There will also be the opportunity to print your own bookmark at Bowne & Co. using one of the Museum’s historic printing presses.
These events are free, and advance registration is encouraged.
